Who we are … About your bed and breakfast hosts
Our family has lived on our little legacy farm for nearly fifteen years now. Our home and the neighborhood were built in the 1950’s on the original homestead and although the area around us has evolved quite a bit, we enjoy staying close to the simpler things in life; a garden, animals, good people, and the beauty of nature.
In my day job, I work with global clients around the world and truly love my work. With nearly three decades managing client relationships in a job I adore and having a passion for gardens, animals, and people, hosting guests at the Decatur Alpaca Cottage is a natural extension of everything I already love! To host well takes commitment, attention to detail, creativity, and it combines the hospitality Georgia is known for with a good bit of business sense. As a young child, I also enjoyed playing with dolls and playing house and, in many ways, being a host is a lot like that on a larger scale; finding the perfect linens for our guest cottage, decorating with just the right touch of gracious comfort and eclectic charm, and finding ways to surprise and pamper our guests with little touches that show we care. In short, it is the perfect combination for a hobby business!
The children are both in the performing arts, one behind the scenes designing theatrical sets and the other on stage singing, dancing, and acting. We enjoy our busy lives, but also truly appreciate time at home with our garden, animals, and incredible neighbors. The weekend usually finds me in the garden in one of the various areas we’ve cultivated over the years; the backyard perennial garden, the Cottage’s natural plant dye garden, or the organic vegetable garden next to our outdoor dining room! I often say I am a much happier person for our gardens ~ there is a certain calm that comes from a day of having my hands in the soil. We love our home, our neighborhood and city, and are honored to share it with our guests during their stay.
